On December 15, Hai Duong's high-performance sports delegation won 4 gold medals at the 9th National Sports Festival.

The pair of athletes Nguyen Van Hue and Le Van Han won two gold medals in the pole vault. The third gold medal went to rower Pham Hong Quan in the men's 1,000m C1 canoeing event. The remaining gold medal went to archer Pham Tran Hoang in the men's individual 3-string bow event.
At the end of the competition day on December 15, the Hai Duong high-performance sports delegation had a total of 13 gold medals, 10 silver medals and 17 bronze medals in the following events: canoeing, shooting, diving, athletics, pencak silat and archery... temporarily ranked 10th nationwide. Leading the way is the Hanoi delegation with 92 gold medals, 76 silver medals and 82 bronze medals. Ranked second is Ho Chi Minh City with 61 gold medals, 63 silver medals and 68 bronze medals.
At the congress, Hai Duong sports delegation set a target of winning 22-24 gold medals, to be in the group of 10 strongest provinces, cities and industries nationwide.
