On the afternoon of May 24, Comrade Nguyen Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired a meeting to listen to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism report on the Project to prepare coaches and high-performance athletes of Hai Duong province to attend the 10th National Sports Festival in 2026 and the plan to organize the 10th Hai Duong Provincial Sports Festival in 2025-2026.
Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Hung requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with departments of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to update and supplement new content compared to previous Sports Congresses, especially instructions on new sports organized for competition this time. The Department received opinions from delegates attending the meeting to supplement and complete the draft Project, especially on the layout, name, necessity, objectives, legal basis, etc.
Assign the Department of Finance to coordinate with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to balance and propose an increase in funding to support the organization of Sports Festivals at all levels. It is possible to propose to support each district with 200 million VND and each commune with 30 million VND. Select Kinh Mon town to organize the district-level model festival.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism advises on the appropriate and meaningful time to organize the Sports Congress at all levels, avoiding overlapping with the time to organize the Party Congress at all levels.
Regarding the Project to prepare a force of coaches and high-performance athletes in Hai Duong province to participate in the 10th National Sports Festival in 2026, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Hung requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to clearly supplement the results of the Project "Building a force of coaches and high-performance athletes in Hai Duong province to participate in the 9th National Sports Festival in 2022", forecasting the goals of this Congress. The Department writes in an open direction so that some sports can be added after receiving official instructions from the Central Government, avoiding having to report and propose adjustments later. Clearly and accurately define the content, structure of the sports, and investment methods, focusing on key sports with advantages and prospects for achieving results...
Regarding funding, the Department of Finance shall coordinate with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to clearly and accurately express the capital structure, especially the social mobilization source, in accordance with the regulations. The project also needs to review the responsibilities of relevant agencies and units in presiding over and coordinating the implementation of the project's task groups and solutions. The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism shall promptly complete the draft plan and project to report at the Provincial People's Committee meeting next week.
According to the draft plan to organize the 10th Hai Duong Provincial Sports Congress in 2025-2026, the Sports Congress of communes, wards and towns will organize competitions in 5-7 sports or more. Depending on the conditions and development of the movement of each locality, the following sports can be selected to be organized: athletics, swimming, football, table tennis, 6-a-side volleyball, volleyball, badminton, chess and aerobics (1 sport for the elderly is required).
District, town and city Sports Festivals organize competitions in at least 10 sports or more, and encourage some traditional sports: shuttlecock kicking, swimming, traditional wrestling, tug of war...
The 10th Provincial Sports Festival is expected to organize competitions in 18 sports, with 14 participating delegations, including 12 districts, towns, cities and 2 branches of the Army and Police.
At the 10th National Sports Festival in 2026, Hai Duong plans to participate in 24 events, with 251 athletes and 46 coaches. The province strives to win 25-26 gold medals, 28 silver medals, and 33 bronze medals; ranking in the top 10 leading units.
