On October 18, the Ministry of Education and Training sent an official dispatch to the Ministry of Information and Communications requesting to handle individuals and organizations that provide false information about general education textbooks.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), in recent days, many social networking sites have spread information about some content that is considered to be linguistic material in textbooks such as: Pounding rice to cook rice, Splashing, Brave An, Baby carrying to support mother, Drawing what is difficult... leading to many negative comments about textbooks, textbook writers and the education sector.
The Ministry of Education and Training affirms that the above content is not included in any current textbooks being used in schools.
The Office of the Ministry of Education and Training requests the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information, Ministry of Information and Communications to support the verification and checking of the origin of the above information; have solutions to prevent the spread of false information; strictly handle organizations and individuals who post and comment distorting and untrue information, causing public confusion and affecting the reputation of the education sector.
Previously, images and information were circulating on social media claiming that the language in the textbooks was not suitable for teaching young children. These images and information attracted many negative comments about the quality of the new textbooks.
Current textbooks, according to the 2018 general education program, include three sets of books: Connecting knowledge with life, Creative horizons and Kite, which have been put into use since 2020. Grades 1 to 4, 6 to 8 and grades 10 and 11 have studied according to the 2018 general education program and textbooks.
As for the lessons: The lesson "Pounding rice to cook rice" in the book "Nung nung na na" in the "Nursery songs for children" series by Kim Dong Publishing House; the lesson "What is difficult to draw" or "Baby helps mother carry" in the Vietnamese book 1 of the Educational Technology book series were used in some schools according to the old program.
