Posting the news "cutting down a banyan tree, many people died" on Facebook, a woman in Hong Du commune was fined 7.5 million VND.

According to the decision, on October 30, 2023, Ms. N. "provided and shared fabricated information causing panic among the people" on the social network Facebook.

On the same day, Hong Du Commune Police discovered that Ms. PTN, born in 1992, used Facebook to post an untrue article with the following content: "Hong Du Commune is building a road, cutting down a banyan tree at the market in Bui village, now all the men are dying young, it's terrible, if you want to build a road, do it, old banyan trees should not be cut down."

Applying point d, clause 1, article 101, Decree 15/2020/ND-CP dated February 3, 2020 of the Government regulating administrative sanctions in the fields of post, telecommunications, radio frequencies, information technology and electronic transactions, Ninh Giang District Police decided to fine Ms. N. 7.5 million VND; forcing Ms. N. to remove the false post on her personal Facebook page.
