Associate Professor Huynh Quyet Thang, Director of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, said that the Hanoi University of Science and Technology Council has passed a resolution to establish two new schools: the School of Chemistry and Life Sciences and the School of Materials.

Accordingly, the School of Chemistry and Life Sciences was established on the basis of the Institute of Chemical Engineering, the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology, the Institute of Biotechnology and Food Technology, and a research center on natural compounds. The school's principal is Associate Professor, Dr. Chu Ky Son.

The School of Materials includes the Institute of Materials Science and Technology, the Institute of Textiles, Footwear and Fashion, the International Training Institute for Materials Science (ITIMS) and the Polymer Materials Research Center. The school's principal is Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Trung Hai.

With the establishment of two new affiliated schools, Hanoi University of Science and Technology will have five affiliated schools including the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, the School of Information and Communication Technology, the School of Chemistry and Life Sciences, and the School of Materials.
