From 9am today, Hanoi University of Science and Technology opens registration portal for the second round of thinking assessment exam.
Candidates can register until February 6, the fee is 500,000 VND.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Vu Duy Hai, Head of Admissions and Career Guidance Department, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, candidates who have taken the first round of exams can still register, if they have the need. The total number of seats for this round is 20,000.
Candidates will take the exam on March 8-9. Exam locations are in 13 provinces and cities including: Hanoi, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Da Nang and Lao Cai.
Previously, the first round of the 2025 thinking assessment exam was organized by Hanoi University of Science and Technology with 2 testing sessions: Saturday afternoon (January 18, 2025) and Sunday morning (January 19, 2025), with nearly 14,000 candidates registered to take the exam.
The first round was successful, with a pass rate of over 99%. As a result, the highest score of the first round in 2025 was 98.61/100 - this is also the highest score ever, breaking the current record for valedictorian. The valedictorian of the first round in 2025 is from Bac Ninh Specialized High School. There were 5 candidates who scored over 90 points; 65 candidates scored over 80 points; 637 candidates scored over 70 points. The average score of the first round in 2025 was 54.54/100.
In 2025, Hanoi University of Science and Technology plans to organize 3 rounds of thinking assessment exams in January - April 2025, with about 75,000 participants, an increase of 25,000 compared to this year.
The test consists of three parts: Mathematical Thinking (60 minutes), Reading Comprehension (30 minutes) and Scientific Thinking/Problem Solving (60 minutes).
These are three independent tests, the questions focus on assessing the candidate's thinking ability, not directly testing knowledge of any subject.
The test is a multiple-choice test on a computer. The total score is 100. The test results are used by about 50 universities for admission.
