In recent days, the construction site of the East-West axis road project through Ninh Giang district has been bustling with trucks carrying materials, excavators, rollers, etc. Hundreds of engineers, workers and about 60 machines have been mobilized, divided into 5 construction teams to urgently implement the project. The shape of the large road connecting inter-regions and inter-provinces is gradually taking shape. The completed sections of road are paved flat, with a road surface of 11-12m wide.

Looking at the new, wide road that is about to be completed, Mr. Pham Dinh Kien in Hong Du commune expressed: “In just a short time, the road passing through the commune has taken on a different appearance. This change is not only significant in terms of traffic but also marks the development of the locality. Witnessing the change in our hometown, we are all excited. Hopefully, when the road is completed, it will continue to create momentum for socio-economic development for the locality.”

The East-West Axis Road Construction Investment Project is approximately 36.6 km long, passing through Thanh Mien, Ninh Giang, and Tu Ky districts. The starting point of the project intersects with provincial road 392C at km7+470, adjacent to and connected to the Chanh River overpass construction project (invested by Hung Yen province), in Doan Ket commune (Thanh Mien). The end point of the project intersects with provincial road 391 at km24+600 in Cong Lac commune (Tu Ky).

The project is a grade III road with a roadbed width of 12 m, a road surface width of 11 m, and a design speed of 80 km/h. It is planned to build and renovate 6 bridges on the route. The project is divided into 3 main construction packages: packages 11, 14, and 19.

According to the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, by early November, the project had implemented the construction items according to the required schedule. Contractors focused on human resources and machinery to speed up the project's construction progress. The section from km0 - km8+300, 8.3 km long, in Thanh Mien district, has completed 4 km of grade 2 crushed stone aggregate foundation, continuing to construct the roadbed and grade 2 crushed stone aggregate foundation. The section from km8+300 - km36+493, 28.1 km long (except Bac Hung Hai bridge), along Highway 396, 16 km long, has basically completed the C19 asphalt concrete surface layer, and started constructing the C12.5 asphalt concrete layer. In the remaining area, contractors are focusing on constructing the roadbed, foundation and road surface according to schedule. As for the Phi Xa bridge item, the bridge piers have basically been completed and are preparing to cast the beams. Bac Hung Hai Bridge has basically completed 4/6 piers, and is currently constructing girders...

High determination

With great determination, contractors have overcome difficulties and accelerated the project progress. Mr. Ngo Hoang Hiep, Deputy Director of the Project Management Board of Package No. 14, East-West Axis Road Construction Investment Project, said that to ensure the set progress, the unit has mobilized machinery and construction workers to work overtime until 9-10 pm every day. The intersection area of ​​the East-West Axis Road project with DH 01 Road in Ninh Giang district has a large number of vehicles, overlapping power lines, clean water pipes, telecommunication cables, etc., so the construction is quite complicated.

The unfavorable weather made the workers work harder. Last month, when they heard that storm No. 5 was coming to the East Sea right at the time of construction of the Rua River box culvert through Ha Ky commune (Tu Ky), the unit had to mobilize workers to work overtime until late at night to keep up with the progress because if it rained heavily and the river flooded, it would be very difficult.

“The unit will try its best to ensure the progress and technical criteria of the project. Because the road is both under construction and in operation, the construction process will affect the daily lives of the people. The unit hopes that the people will sympathize and create conditions for the unit to complete the project,” said Mr. Hiep.

Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company 18 is also urgently constructing Bac Hung Hai Bridge under the East-West axis road project. The Bac Hung Hai Bridge project across Cai River (also known as Tu Ky River belonging to Bac Hung Hai irrigation system) connects Ha Ky and Phuong Ky communes (Tu Ky) with a total construction cost of 172 billion VND. To ensure progress, the construction unit has mobilized 70 engineers and workers divided into 5 urgent construction teams. By early November 2023, the contractor had completed the construction of the girder casting yard, girder casting platform, SuperT girder beam floor, completed 2 main piers and 2 border piers, reaching more than 50% of the volume.

The East-West Axis Road Project is a key project to implement the Resolution of the Hai Duong Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term. When completed, the route will help connect many main routes such as the Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway, Cau Gie - Ninh Binh Expressway, National Highway 38B, the province's North-South Axis Road, National Highway 37, National Highway 10 and many provincial roads of Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Thai Binh... With great determination, the contractors strive to complete the project according to the signed contract schedule in April 2024.
