Workers save billions for businesses thanks to initiative

"Good woman" in the factory

With a creative and inquisitive nature, worker Nguyen Thi Hai (born in 1987) at Sumidenso Vietnam Co., Ltd. always tries to improve the production process. In 2024, during her work, she realized that the production form had many shortcomings. Workers only repeated a single operation, which resulted in low productivity and quality of work. Therefore, she proposed to the company's management to change to a centralized production form. Instead of being in charge of a single stage, each worker completes a specific group of tasks on the conveyor belt. This will help reduce the transition stage and the size of the conveyor belt.

With the guidance and support of colleagues, Ms. Hai's initiative was quickly put into use with many advantages. With the new production line, the installation area has been reduced by 20% compared to before. The cost of investing in purchasing equipment has decreased by 12% while productivity has increased by 10%. Not only is the product quality better, but it also limits the loss of raw materials during the production process. According to the company's management, Ms. Hai's initiative has helped the company save over 1 billion VND/year.

"After finishing high school, I applied to work at Sumidenso Company. Over the past 18 years, I have proposed many initiatives that are beneficial to the business. Most of my ideas are drawn from practical work experience. With each initiative applied, I have more motivation to try and strive in production work," said Ms. Hai.

In 2024, Nissei Vietnam Technology Co., Ltd. had nearly 100 initiatives from employees that helped the company save tens of billions of VND. Of these, more than 20 initiatives were directly proposed and implemented by female workers. The most typical is worker Nguyen Thi Phuong (born in 1990) with an improvement in reducing the cost of reporting scrap components. Ms. Phuong said that an electronic circuit board is made up of dozens to hundreds of different components. During the inspection process, workers are willing to remove the entire circuit board if they discover a damaged component. This is the main cause of material loss.

"Electronic components have complex structures and high prices. Therefore, businesses always have to make full use of these products to save production costs. From discarded circuit boards, I have selected good components for reuse. This initiative has helped businesses save a lot of costs," Ms. Phuong shared.

Spread the creative competition movement

In 2018, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tran (born in 1983) started working at Camex Vietnam Co., Ltd. During the production process, he realized that the CNC machine's mold holder had many shortcomings, causing low productivity. With the desire to create more versatile and convenient clamping models, Mr. Tran researched, learned and realized his idea.

With the support of the company, in just 2 weeks, Mr. Tran completed the gas cylinder clamping fixture model with many outstanding features compared to the old model. This product operates completely automatically through the gas cylinder system. Thanks to the gas pressure, the fixing of the sample on the fixture is more secure and stable during the turning process. Thanks to that, the quality and productivity of the product are always guaranteed. Currently, this clamping fixture model continues to be improved by Mr. Tran so that it can be used for many different items.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Chinh, Director of Camex Vietnam Co., Ltd., Mr. Tran's initiative has helped the company save nearly 1 billion VND/year. This is the result of the emulation movement "Initiative, Creativity" launched by the company's Trade Union. From this activity, each year the company receives over 20 typical initiatives, many individuals have been honored by the Provincial Labor Federation. To show gratitude to the employees, the company has allocated hundreds of millions of VND from the welfare fund to reward these typical individuals.

Recently, the emulation movement of production labor at enterprises has received special attention from trade unions at all levels in the province. Many units have found good ways to motivate and encourage union members and workers to be enthusiastic and creative, especially in digital transformation and application of technical advances in production.

The representative of the Trade Union of Sumidenso Vietnam Co., Ltd. said that the company always encourages and creates conditions for employees to freely create and contribute. Monthly and yearly, the trade union will select typical initiatives to encourage and reward. Typical individuals also have the opportunity to study, exchange experiences, and develop skills abroad...

According to the assessment of the Provincial Federation of Labor, with the virtues of diligence, hard work, and perseverance, the labor force in the province has constantly overcome difficulties, innovated, and created to optimize the production process. In particular, the emulation movement "Initiative, creativity" has become a great source of encouragement and motivation for union members and laborers to make efforts to contribute to their units and enterprises. Thereby, demonstrating the intellectual qualities of the working class in the process of modernization and industrialization of the country. In the coming time, the Provincial Federation of Labor will promote propaganda, commendation, reward, and replication of advanced models to motivate union members and laborers to work enthusiastically in production.
