Two attacks by the IS-linked Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in the east of the country have left at least 18 people dead and 14 missing.
On August 11, local authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo said two attacks by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebel group affiliated with the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) in the east of the country left at least 18 people dead and 14 missing.
The attacks took place on August 10 in the territory of Beni, in North Kivu province.
The ADF, originally mainly Ugandan Muslim rebels, has been rampaging for three decades in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo and killing thousands of civilians.
In 2019, the ADF pledged allegiance to IS and is seen as its branch in Central Africa.
