The driver of the car that hit and killed someone on Highway 390 in Quyet Thang Commune (Hai Duong City) on March 23, 2024 and then fled has been prosecuted and temporarily detained.
The Investigation Police Agency of Hai Duong City Police has decided to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and temporarily detain Pham Van Thong, born in 1980, in Thanh Ha town, for violating regulations when participating in road traffic.
Previously, at around 4:40 a.m. on March 23, at km17+500 of Provincial Road 390, in Quyet Thang Commune (Hai Duong City), a traffic accident occurred, killing one person on the spot. The victim was Mr. HVN, born in 1958, in Hoang Xa 1 Village, Quyet Thang Commune. The person who caused the accident then left the scene.
Immediately after receiving the information, Hai Duong City Police urgently conducted an investigation and verification. On March 25, 2024, Hai Duong City Police identified Pham Van Thong as the owner of the Mitsubishi Attrage car, license plate 34A-206.18, causing the accident and then fleeing the scene.
After causing the accident, Thong took the damaged vehicle to garages in Hanoi and An Lao district (Hai Phong) for repair and replacement of spare parts to erase traces and conceal his crime, causing difficulties for the investigation agency.
During the investigation, Pham Van Thong confessed to all his crimes. The case is being further investigated and clarified by the Investigation Police Agency of Hai Duong City Police.
