Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh's family in hamlet 6, Lai Xa village, Thanh Thuy commune (Thanh Ha, Hai Duong) is one of the few households that still persevere in growing kumquat trees to sell for Tet.
In previous years, Thanh Thuy commune had more than a dozen households growing kumquat trees for Tet with about 4 hectares. However, this year, this area has shrunk due to the soil being depleted, and the income of kumquat growers is not as high as many other crops, so many households have abandoned kumquat trees and planted dragon fruit, guava, etc.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh's family in Hamlet 6, Lai Xa village is one of the few households that still persevere with the profession of growing kumquat trees for Tet. This year, due to unfavorable weather, many households have lost their crops because the kumquat trees are not beautiful and the fruits are small, but Mr. Thanh's kumquat garden is still beautiful, with even fruit and green trees. By January 18, Mr. Thanh had sold 1,000 out of 1,500 kumquat trees for Tet, with prices ranging from 260,000 to 1 million VND/tree.
