Finalize Lunar New Year holiday schedule and 2025 holidays

The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has just finalized the Lunar New Year holiday schedule and other holidays in 2025 for officials, civil servants, public employees and workers.

Officials, civil servants, public employees and workers will have 9 days off for Lunar New Year 2025

On December 3, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs issued a document announcing the Lunar New Year holiday, National Day holiday, April 30 holiday and International Labor Day May 1, 2025 for cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers.

Accordingly, cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers of administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, socio-political organizations (civil servants, public employees) will have a holiday for the Lunar New Year 2025 from Saturday, January 25 (ie December 26, Giap Thin year) to Sunday, February 2, 2025 (ie January 5, At Ty year). This holiday lasts 9 days, including 5 days off for Lunar New Year and 4 days off every week.

Civil servants and public employees are off for the National Day holiday from Saturday, August 30 to Tuesday, September 2. The September 2 holiday lasts 4 days, including 2 National Day holidays and 2 weekly days off.

Civil servants and public employees will have their working days changed from Friday, May 2 to Saturday, April 26. Thus, during the Victory Day holiday of April 30 and International Labor Day of May 1 in 2025, employees will have 5 consecutive days off (from April 30 to May 4) and will work on Saturday, April 26 in lieu.

According to the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, agencies and units that do not have a fixed schedule of Saturday and Sunday off every week will base on the specific program and plan of the unit to arrange a suitable schedule of off, in accordance with the provisions of law.

For employees who are not cadres, civil servants, public employees and employees of administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, socio-political organizations, the employer decides to choose the option of Lunar New Year holiday, National Day holiday, Victory Day holiday 30/4 and International Labor Day 1/5 in 2025 as follows:

For Lunar New Year holiday: Choose 1 last day of the year of Giap Thin and the first 4 days of the year of At Ty or 2 last days of the year of Giap Thin and the first 3 days of the year of At Ty or 3 last days of the year of Giap Thin and the first 2 days of the year of At Ty.

For National Day holiday: Tuesday 2/9 and choose 1 of 2 days, Monday 1/9 or Wednesday 3/9.

Employers shall notify employees of the Lunar New Year and National Day holiday plans in 2025 at least 30 days before implementation.

If the weekly day off coincides with a public holiday or Tet holiday as prescribed in Clause 1, Article 112 of the Labor Code, the employee shall be entitled to take a compensatory weekly day off on the next working day as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code.

The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs encourages employers to apply the Lunar New Year holiday, National Day holiday, Victory Day holiday on April 30 and International Labor Day on May 1, 2025 for employees as prescribed for civil servants and public employees.

Other holidays and Tet are implemented according to the provisions of the Labor Code.
