A passenger ship in Bai Tu Long Bay (Cam Pha City, Quang Ninh) sank, causing 6 people to fall into the sea, 2 of whom are missing.
According to information from the Quang Ninh Provincial Military Command, at around 5:00 a.m. this morning, December 7, a passenger ship sank in the Hon Net area (in Bai Tu Long Bay, Quang Ninh).
The sunken ship, numbered QN-5427, had a capacity of 48 passengers, and was owned by Mr. Tran Van Ty (born in 1989, in hamlet 4, Lien Hoa, Quang Yen town, Quang Ninh province), carrying 5 workers.
After the accident, the ship owner and 3 workers were rescued, 2 workers were missing, and the passenger ship QN-5427 sank.
By noon of the same day, the authorities had found one victim, Vu Cong Qui (born in 1961, in Ngo Quyen, Hai Phong City).
According to the report of Mr. Tran Van Ty (ship owner) and 3 people who were rescued, at about 5:00 a.m. the same day, while everyone was sleeping, strong winds and big waves sank the ship.
At the time of the sinking, ship QN-5427 was tied to a self-propelled ship carrying an excavator bucket.
Immediately after receiving the news, the search and rescue forces of the Quang Ninh Provincial Military Command, the Ha Long City Military Command, the Cam Pha Port Border Guard Station and other functional forces mobilized human resources and means to focus on searching and rescuing the missing victims.
This is a floating port area, often receiving large tonnage ships to load and unload goods, mainly items such as: Coal, clinker, cement, limestone... serving import and export.
Currently, authorities are continuing to search for the remaining victim.
