Previously, as reported, at around 7:30 p.m. on October 16, fishing boat QNa 90129 TS was fishing for squid, with 54 workers on board, operating at coordinates 13037'N-114039'E (about 370 nautical miles southeast of An Hoa Cape/Quang Nam, about 70 nautical miles north-northeast of Song Tu Tay Island/Truong Sa) when a tornado caused the boat to sink. 40 crew members were rescued by nearby ships, 14 fishermen were unfortunately missing. On October 17, the search force found 2 people, both of whom had passed away.
Then, at 1:00 a.m. on October 17, fishing boat QNa-90927 TS was operating at coordinates 13032'N-113027'E (about 240 nautical miles East Southeast of Quy Nhon City coast, about 135 nautical miles North Northwest of Song Tu Tay Island) when it was sunk by waves. 38 crew members on board were fortunately rescued by a neighboring ship. Fisherman Nguyen Duy Dinh is missing. Up to this point, 13 people out of 2 fishermen are still missing.
Upon receiving information that fishing boats QNa 90129 TS and QNa 90927 TS were in distress at sea, the Navy Command dispatched ships 467, 471 and 735 to the areas where the fishing boats sank to coordinate with maritime forces to search and rescue fishermen.
Currently, officers and soldiers on two Navy ships 471 and 735, Coast Guard ship 8002 and many fishing boats of fishermen are determined at all costs to coordinate with forces on the ground to continue expanding the search area for the fishing boat and the fishermen who are still missing.
