Israeli authorities are battling wildfires in northern Israel following rocket and drone attacks from neighboring Lebanon.
Israeli police said firefighters, assisted by several other units, were working to put out the fire. Several homes in the area have been evacuated.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military said it had deployed to assist firefighters. Six soldiers suffered minor injuries from smoke inhalation and were taken to hospital for medical treatment. The military said the fires were under control and there was no immediate threat to human life.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said it was closely monitoring the wildfire situation with the military.
Tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border escalated on October 8, 2023, after Hezbollah fired a barrage of rockets toward Israel in solidarity with the Hamas Islamist movement in the Gaza Strip. Israel then fired artillery toward southeastern Lebanon in response.
