At around 10:10 a.m., because the fire was at risk of spreading, Mr. Hang Quang Long mobilized 12 family members and neighboring forest owners to help put out the fire.
During the firefighting process, due to the movement on the hill and the hot weather, Mr. Hang Quang Long fainted and was taken to Bai Chay Hospital for emergency treatment. However, at around 2:00 p.m. on June 4, Mr. Hang Quang Long died. After the fire, about 3 hectares of vegetation were burned.
In Uong Bi City, at around 12:30 on June 4, a fire broke out in Lot 25A, Section 7, Sub-area 41A (forest under the management of Mr. Hoang Cong Tinh and Mr. Vu Van Sy's family) in Phuong Dong Ward. Immediately after receiving the report from the people, Phuong Dong Ward People's Committee mobilized forces to put out the fire.
However, at around 1:30 p.m., the Ward People's Committee checked and discovered that Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan (born in 1981, residing at No. 3, Lane 24, Zone 3, Ha Khau Ward, Ha Long City) died in the hill area opposite the fire. Local authorities organized visits to the victim's family. The cause and damage of the fires are being investigated by local authorities.
In the face of prolonged heat and high risk of fires, authorities recommend that people burn the ground cover early in the morning to promptly handle any incidents that may arise. When the outside temperature is too high, people should not burn the ground cover. In addition, people should pay attention to burning from top to bottom to reduce smoke inhalation compared to burning from bottom to top.
Before burning, people must build a firebreak around the area, only burn when the wind is light and must arrange for someone to guard it, not let the fire spread and must extinguish all embers after burning.
When a forest fire occurs, the forest owner must immediately mobilize forces and means on the spot to fight the forest fire, and immediately notify the competent authority for support if there is a risk of a large fire, to avoid painful consequences.
