A 6-story house at 207 Dinh Cong Ha Street burned fiercely in the rain. Authorities discovered 4 bodies after a preliminary search.
At around 6 p.m. on June 16, smoke rose from the fourth floor of a six-story building selling construction equipment on Dinh Cong Ha Street, Dinh Cong Ward, Hoang Mai District (Hanoi). Within minutes, the fire flared up and spread to the upper floors.
A witness said many people on the fourth floor managed to run out, but there were still many cries for help coming from the top floor.
The fire department and rescue force mobilized many vehicles and soldiers to the scene. The soldiers approached the house from two directions. At the front, they used a water cannon to spray water on the raging fire.
In the rear direction, firefighters wearing specialized protective gear climbed onto the three-story roof of the house next door, then approached the inside of the burning house to search for trapped people.
By 7:30 p.m., two stretchers were brought into the house. Some trapped people were taken out by police.
Hanoi City Police said that through a preliminary search, forces discovered four bodies.
Currently, the City Police Director is directing relevant units, Hoang Mai District Police to coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security's professional departments to quickly investigate the cause of the fire.
The city police also advised the City Party Committee and People's Committee to direct relevant departments and branches to coordinate with the Hoang Mai District People's Committee to visit and encourage the victims' families and overcome the consequences of the fire.
