End of waste treatment and power generation project in Luong Dien commune (Cam Giang)

The People's Committee of Hai Duong province has issued Document No. 4849/UBND-VP on terminating the operation of the Hai Duong Province Domestic Waste Treatment and Power Generation Plant Project in Luong Dien Commune (Cam Giang). The People's Committee of the province assigned the Department of Planning and Investment to preside over and coordinate in guiding the investor to carry out the procedures for terminating the above project in accordance with the law.

The Hai Duong Province Domestic Waste Treatment and Power Generation Plant Project, invested by United Expert Investments Co., Ltd. (China) and Au Viet Resources and Environment Joint Stock Company, was approved by the Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 2334/QD-UBND dated July 12, 2018. The project has a total investment of 45 million USD, using 10 hectares of land in Luong Dien commune. The project's goal is to treat 500 tons of domestic waste/day and night and generate 9-10 MW of electricity...

However, local people did not agree on the land clearance. In 2019, at a dialogue with Cam Giang district people, the provincial People's Committee leaders agreed to temporarily suspend the implementation to survey and find a suitable location to carry out the above project.

Thus, the Hai Duong Province Domestic Waste Treatment and Power Generation Plant Project has just been approved in principle for investment but has not yet been leased land for construction. Then, in 2019 and 2021, the investor submitted a written request and was approved in principle by the Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee to survey and study the implementation of the above project at the Viet Hong Commune Waste Treatment Complex (now Cam Viet Commune), Thanh Ha District.
