The Vietnam Register (Ministry of Transport) has just issued a warning notice that there are currently a number of individuals impersonating employees of registration centers calling car owners to inform them that their cars are about to expire and that they need to renew their registration.
If the vehicle owner trusts and follows the instructions, the impostors will send the renewal confirmation slip via the express delivery system, then the recipient, through the shipper, will transfer 100,000 VND back to the impostor.
According to the Vietnam Register, Circular 08/2023/TT-BGTVT amending and supplementing a number of articles of Circular No. 16/2021/TT-BGTVT of the Ministry of Transport regulating technical safety and environmental protection inspection of road motor vehicles according to simplified procedures and formalities officially takes effect from June 2, 2023.
Accordingly, passenger cars with up to 9 seats not used for transportation business (with a production period of up to 7 years and a production period of 13 - 20 years) that have been granted certificates and inspection stamps before March 22, 2023 and are valid until July 1, 2024 will have their inspection cycle automatically extended according to the new cycle prescribed in Circular 02/2023/TT-BGTVT dated March 22, 2023 (Circular No. 02/2023/TT-BGTVT of the Ministry of Transport: Amending and supplementing a number of articles of Circular No. 16/2021/TT-BGTVT dated August 12, 2021 of the Ministry of Transport regulating the inspection of technical safety and environmental protection of road motor vehicles). Specifically, the inspection agency will automatically issue a certificate confirming the validity of the certificate and inspection stamp for the above vehicles without the vehicle owner having to bring the vehicle to the inspection center for re-inspection, creating convenience for the people, saving time and costs.
However, due to not clearly understanding the regulations in Circular No. 08/2023/TT-BGTVT of the Ministry of Transport on extending the inspection period for non-commercial passenger cars with up to 9 seats, many vehicle owners trusted and followed the instructions of the impostors, leading to unjust loss of money.
Faced with this situation, the Vietnam Register has uploaded all inspection period confirmation papers for motor vehicles with inspection deadlines from June 3, 2023 to June 30, 2024 that are eligible for inspection extension.
Vehicle owners can look up the inspection extension on the official website of the Vietnam Register at the link: https://giahanxcg.vr.org.vn or on the TTDK app and download the extension confirmation file yourself, print it out for use when driving on the road.
To perform automatic vehicle registration renewal on the TTDK app, users perform the following steps:
