In response to negative reports at K Hospital, the Ministry of Health's leaders directed to clarify, publicize and strictly handle "no forbidden areas" if any negative incidents are detected.
After the incident where people reported negative incidents at K Hospital, Professor, Dr. Tran Van Thuan, Deputy Minister of Health, had a meeting with the leaders of K Hospital to grasp the situation and give instructions regarding the information reported on social networks.
Reporting to the leaders of the Ministry of Health, Director of K Hospital Le Van Quang said: As soon as there were reflections about the hospital on social networks, the hospital organized a meeting between the Board of Directors and heads of departments, rooms and separate meetings with each internal medicine, surgery, radiation, and functional department as assigned to verify the information reflected on social networks; at the same time, disseminate and review the issued regulations on professional work, attitude, and communication with patients and their families.
After verification, the hospital discovered that among the images was an image of giving an envelope to a doctor that had occurred since 2014. This medical staff member was disciplined and transferred to another job.
According to the Director of K Hospital, at present, there are many patients coming for treatment, overloading all 3 treatment facilities, in which the radiotherapy unit works continuously day and night. Faced with this situation, the hospital realized that there was a risk of negativity arising, so in the past time, the hospital has always corrected its service attitude, especially the work of preventing and combating negativity, thereby disciplining a number of staff with inappropriate behavior and attitude towards patients.
In particular, after the incident was reported on social networks, on August 19, immediately after receiving instructions from the leaders of the Ministry of Health and departments, the hospital sent a dispatch reporting the incident to the Ministry of Health.
The hospital also reviewed the medical examination and treatment process, thoroughly instilling the spirit of medical ethics in all hospital staff. Along with that, the hospital invited the police and functional agencies to verify; publicized the hotline phone numbers of all 3 facilities...
Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management Ha Anh Duc also suggested that the hospital should thoroughly understand the Code of Conduct, improve the responsibility of performing public duties, and professional regulations of medical staff; strengthen training on communication, behavioral, and professional skills; implement the motto "Taking the patient as the center", with the spirit of listening and receptiveness in caring for and treating patients. The unit proactively reviews, develops plans and inspects the organization and implementation of quality management of medical examination and treatment services; promotes digital transformation in healthcare in implementing medical examination and treatment procedures...
Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan emphasized: "Recently, clips have appeared on social networks related to the behavior of medical staff at K Hospital. Immediately after receiving the information, the hospital reported and the ministry's leaders gave instructions for timely handling. The spirit of the Ministry of Health is to clarify, publicize and strictly handle "no forbidden areas" if negativity is detected."
According to Deputy Minister Tran Van Thuan, the number of cancer patients has increased sharply recently, although the Central level has invested in building 3 facilities, it is still not enough to meet the demand. To serve patients, the hospital has divided shifts - examination and treatment teams... thereby showing the hard work and difficulties of medical staff in general and doctors at K Hospital in particular.
Regarding the recent incident, the Deputy Minister directed the hospital to closely follow the relevant authorities to clarify and promptly inform the press as soon as the results are available. Periodically collect opinions from patients, their families, and medical staff to promptly overcome limitations and shortcomings in the medical examination and treatment process, communication, and behavior...
The hospital needs to pay more attention to the lives of medical staff by increasing legitimate income. At the same time, review the medical examination and treatment process; cut down on administrative procedures; increase the application of information technology in medical examination and treatment activities; strengthen training, guidance at the lower level, remote consultation to reduce the burden on the upper level; strengthen procurement and bidding to ensure that there is no shortage of drugs and medical supplies in medical examination and treatment; the hospital should soon complete the project to build a 4th facility and submit it to the Ministry of Health.
Mr. Le Van Quang, Director of K Hospital, shared: K Hospital thanks the public for following, reflecting on shortcomings, and contributing ideas to help the hospital operate better and serve the people better.
“If the hospital receives any feedback from patients about the inappropriate attitude of medical staff, it will suspend work for 1-2 weeks to verify and clarify. If it is discovered that the medical staff is negative, it will be disciplined. In the spirit of openness, we will strictly handle violations in medical examination and treatment activities (if any) and publicly, transparently, and announce them to the mass media,” Mr. Le Van Quang affirmed.
