On July 14, Binh Phuoc Provincial Police in coordination with Bu Dop District Police are conducting an investigation to clarify a suspected serious alcohol poisoning case, which resulted in one death and three people being treated at the hospital.
The deceased victim was Nguyen Xuan Hien (40 years old, residing in Thanh Hoa commune, Bu Dop district). Three people are being treated at the hospital, including Nguyen Xuan Hao (16 years old, Hien's son), Nguyen Thi Tuyet Anh (37 years old, Hien's wife) and Than Khai Hoang (41 years old, residing in Bu Dop district).
According to initial information, at around 6:00 p.m. on July 12, a family of three in Mr. Hien's family, Mr. Than Khai Hoang and some others organized a drinking party at a paint distributor in Thanh Binh town, Bu Dop district.
After 3 hours, the group drank 6 bottles of pre-mixed wine, branded “Binh An” (each bottle was about 500ml). After drinking, Mr. Hien felt tired and had a headache, so he lay down to rest at Son’s shop.
At around 9pm on July 13, Mr. Hien showed signs of fatigue, dizziness, and vomiting, suspected to be due to poisoning. Although his family took him to the emergency room in time, his condition was so severe that by the early morning of July 14, Mr. Hien died.
Mr. Hien and Mr. Than Khai Hoang’s wife and children also had similar symptoms of poisoning (fatigue, vomiting, headache) and were taken to the hospital for emergency treatment. After that, these three people were transferred to a hospital in Ho Chi Minh City for treatment.
The case is being investigated and clarified by the police.
