In the first leg at Benfica's Da Luz Stadium last week, Barca won 1-0 despite playing with one less player due to Pau Cubarsi's red card. Returning to their home stadium Montjuic on the evening of March 11, Hansi Flick's team only needed a draw to advance, but they did more than that with their dominant performance. The home team controlled the ball 65% of the time, had 20 shots and 6 on target, while the visitors' respective figures were 8 and 2.

Right from the start, Barca threatened Benfica's goal and then took the lead in the 11th minute. Lamine Yamal faked past two defenders and then crossed the ball to Raphinha to open the scoring.

Benfica also organized some bright attacks, and it took only two minutes to level the score at 1 - 1. After a corner kick on the left wing, Nicolas Otamendi headed the ball close to goal, although goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny touched the ball with his hand.

Despite being tied early, Barca were not deterred. Coach Flick's team continued to take the initiative. History shows that in the previous 4 times hosting Benfica in European cups, Barca has never lost (won 2, drew 2).

And order was quickly restored. In the 27th minute, Yamal made a breakthrough masterpiece. After breaking through from the left wing into the middle, he curled the ball from 18 meters to increase the score to 2 - 1. The ball did not go too fast, but was dangerous enough to beat goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin.

At 17 years and 241 days, Yamal became the youngest player in history to score and assist in the same Champions League match.

Benfica tried to regain control of the game, but the difference in class prevented them from effectively and accurately executing their attacking intentions. In the 42nd minute, the outcome seemed to be decided. Alejandro Balde led straight to the edge of Benfica's penalty area after winning the ball in their own half, then assisted Raphinha to shoot diagonally past goalkeeper Trubin.

This was Raphinha's third goal out of four goals scored by Barca in the round of 16 this year. Thanks to that, the Brazilian winger took the lead in the race for the Champions League Golden Boot this season with 11 goals.

The final score of this match was 3 - 1 in favor of Barca. The Catalan team won 4 - 1 on aggregate after 2 matches and became the first club to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
