Defeating Vallecano, Barca takes top spot in La Liga

Barca entered the match to welcome Vallecano with high determination, because before that, both direct opponents Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid had both stumbled with a draw.

In the 28th minute, Barca was awarded a penalty after defender Inigo Martinez was pulled down in the penalty area. On the penalty spot, Lewandowski made no mistake, fooling the Vallecano goalkeeper and scoring the opening goal for the home team.

In the following period, Barca created a few more chances but could not capitalize on them. In the second half, Vallecano rose up quite strongly and created many dangers towards Barca's goal.

In the end, Barca won 1-0 against Vallecano in round 24 of La Liga. This result helped coach Hansi Flick's team have the same 51 points as Real Madrid but occupy the top of the rankings thanks to a better secondary index.
