The Drug Administration of Vietnam, Ministry of Health has just issued an official dispatch requesting local Departments of Health, hospitals, and drug manufacturing and importing establishments to ensure the supply of drugs to treat influenza.
According to the Drug Administration, recently, the flu situation has been complicated in many localities in the North, the demand for flu treatment drugs, especially antiviral drugs, tends to increase. To ensure adequate supply of drugs for flu prevention and treatment, the Drug Administration recommends that units continue to implement the contents on ensuring drug supply for diseases that may occur in the winter and spring.
The Department of Health of provinces and centrally run cities continues to direct local medical facilities to closely monitor the epidemic situation and the demand for influenza treatment drugs. Strengthen inspection and supervision of drug supply and use, ensure that drugs are distributed reasonably, avoid speculation and unreasonable price increases.
Hospitals under the ministry proactively plan to stockpile and purchase influenza treatment drugs, especially antiviral drugs, to ensure readiness and timely supply of influenza treatment drugs. Units use drugs appropriately and avoid overusing antiviral drugs to limit the risk of drug resistance.
Drug manufacturing and importing establishments must increase supply, develop and implement drug supply plans to meet the demand for flu treatment, and promptly provide enough drugs when receiving orders from medical examination and treatment facilities.
