According to the Ministry of Health, although the number of flu cases has increased locally since the end of 2024 and during the Lunar New Year holiday in 2025, there has been no sudden increase compared to the number of cases recorded in the same period every year with the main agents being influenza A/H3N2, A/H1N1 and influenza B.

Measles is currently showing a downward trend compared to December 2024, but is still increasing locally in some localities.

Currently, it is the winter-spring season with monsoon climate conditions, humid, favorable for the development of respiratory pathogens leading to an increased risk of infections such as seasonal flu, measles, rash fever...

In addition, this is also the first festival season of the year, the demand for trade and tourism increases; there are often large gatherings at tourist, entertainment and public places, increasing the risk of infection.

To proactively prevent and control seasonal flu, measles and respiratory diseases, the Ministry of Health requests the People's Committees of provinces and cities to pay attention to and direct the Department of Health and related units to strictly implement measles vaccination, ensuring full vaccination for target groups to quickly control the situation. At the same time, ensure funding and mobilize the participation of local authorities at all levels, departments, branches and organizations to synchronously, promptly and effectively deploy epidemic prevention and control measures, especially the implementation of the measles vaccination plan in the area.

Localities shall review the vaccination target groups to organize catch-up vaccinations and catch-up vaccinations for those who have not been vaccinated or have not received enough doses of measles vaccine; continue to maintain and increase the vaccination rate of vaccines in the Expanded Immunization Program to ensure disease prevention immunity for children.

Medical examination and treatment facilities strictly implement infection control and prevention; ensure logistics, funding, drugs, vaccines, equipment, and human resources to meet the requirements of treatment and prevention of infectious diseases; at the same time, direct the strengthening of communication on prevention and control of influenza, measles, and respiratory diseases at educational institutions, medical facilities, industrial clusters and zones, tourist sites, commercial centers, and crowded public areas.

In particular, it is recommended that people should vaccinate their children fully and on schedule; encourage people to proactively get vaccinated against flu; and vaccinate women of childbearing age with measles and rubella vaccines according to recommendations of the health sector.

In addition, the Management Board of industrial parks, clusters, tourist, entertainment and recreation sites, shopping centers, public places, the Education sector, and training and education institutions coordinate with the Health sector to implement disease prevention and control activities; ensure environmental sanitation, monitor the health of workers, children, and students, and provide guidance and recommendations on personal disease prevention measures such as wearing masks, regularly washing hands with soap and clean water, and limiting contact with suspected cases of the disease...
