Three noisy stories

1. Artists say "slanderous" things, it's not a new story but it's just been made a big deal. Public opinion is scrutinizing old stories. Like the arrogant attitude at the press conference of singer Hoang Thuy Linh. With a past that was "bombarded" by public opinion during her most beautiful youth, many people can sympathize with her hurt when recalling the past, but it's hard to understand when she says: "From now on, if anyone asks me nonsense questions about the past, I will send poison leaves to their house."

Or the story of Dang Thanh An (stage name Negav, a rapper) whose offensive comments from a few years ago were dug up online. Dang Thanh An also made inappropriate comments about a number of other artists, causing outrage.

After the noisy stories of some artists, they have made explanations in the media. There are things that the public can sympathize with and there are others that cannot.

Artists are public figures. They are role models, especially for young people. Many young people choose artists as their idols. They listen to what their idols say, believe in them, and follow their example.

Therefore, if artists do not set a good example and continue to talk nonsense on the internet – the place with the greatest influence today – it will harm society. At that time, artists cannot fulfill their role as cultural ambassadors.

2. In recent days, the internet has been abuzz with the story of businesswoman Nguyen Phuong Hang from Binh Duong who recently got out of prison and made statements “challenging” Mr. Thich Minh Tue. Mr. Thich Minh Tue has been in seclusion for the past few months and people are no longer discussing him as loudly as they did in May and June 2024.

Thanks to Ms. Hang’s mention, his name suddenly flooded the internet. Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang said she would “beat” Mr. Thich Minh Tue, prove where Mr. Tue was right and where he was wrong…

Commenting and evaluating people is not simple, there is nothing to be noisy about. By bringing it to public opinion and raising the issue of winning or losing, this businessman has "lost" himself.

3. But there is one quiet thing that is making a lot of unnecessary noise. Last week, the State Bank of Vietnam released information that since requiring facial authentication to transfer money via bank accounts, the number of people being scammed has decreased significantly.

In August, the number of people scammed halved compared to the average of 1 month in the first 7 months of 2024. The figures provided by the State Bank demonstrate that biometric authentication is effective in preventing information fraud.
