Illusion to success

According to psychologists, intelligent, selective self-image contributes to making strides in a person's career.

Recently, the word "delulu" has been going viral on social media platforms like WhatsApp, Twitter, Instagram, and most of all, TikTok. This word is a slang version of "delusional".

Accordingly, many young people think they are better and have high qualifications in a certain field, even though the reality is not entirely true. In many videos, many girls affirm that "illusion under control" can help them achieve success in their careers.

A female TikToker with the account name@makemoneywithjayeShe used to think that delusion was a negative thing, but now she sees it as an important aspect leading to success. In fact, when she was empowered to be delusional and form a mindset of 'not being inferior to others', this person achieved more success than ever.

"I realized that illusion can be the key to success. It's a mindset shift and a reminder that all you need to do is believe, and you will automatically grow in the direction you want," said this tiktoker.

Many young people believe that having illusions about their own abilities will help them achieve success in their careers.

Speaking about the "delulu" trend, Sarah Hernon, a career management consultant with 20 years of experience at the management consulting firm Right Management (USA), said that in some cases, developing a slightly delusional mindset can help each individual improve their confidence, thereby improving work performance. "They will act the way they believe they need to and become a better version of themselves," she said.

However, Hernon also warns that not all illusions have positive results, especially when they involve inaccurate assessments of one's own abilities.

“If you’re doing this to cover up a lack of skills, like pretending, it doesn’t have any positive benefits,” the expert says. Even if you don’t get caught, career delusions can be a sign that you’re not in the right role, which can lead to a downward spiral.

Therefore, each individual must always ask the question: Where is your real ability? Are you living true to yourself? Are you happy if you live forever in an illusion?

To avoid unnecessary disadvantages, Hernon advises each individual, especially young people, to "imagine wisely".

And if you want to make the most of your career fantasy, imagine the version of yourself you want to be and work toward achieving it. "Think about a time when you faced a difficult challenge and how you overcame it. Try to visualize the uninhibited version of yourself and start planning to achieve your ideal life," the expert says.
