On November 2, the National Economics University held the 2024 Industry Conference. Experts and businesses gave many suggestions to improve the quality of training associated with practice at the school.

Ms. Vu Thi Phuong, Communications Director of a healthcare system, said that currently, recruitment by companies and businesses often "sticks" to a common framework of 4 factors: expertise, experience, soft skills, and experience.

If in the previous stage, candidates with strong expertise often had a big plus in the recruitment process, now, in addition to expertise, businesses also emphasize experience and soft skills.

“Soft skills greatly determine a person’s success at work. Not only stopping at communication skills, soft skills requirements have now expanded, including the ability to use AI as a working tool, must be proficient in English, have the ability to work independently and in a team...”, Ms. Phuong said.

Therefore, during the learning process, according to Ms. Phuong, if students do not create their own training and experience roadmap, when they graduate, it will be very easy to "slip" on the job search journey.

Meanwhile, Mr. Phan Minh Chinh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of a textile company, said that businesses really like candidates with “real-world” abilities. Therefore, schools need to create conditions for students to both study and “real-world” in the labor market.

In addition, some opinions from international experts also suggested that schools should integrate more international elements into the output standards and expected training outcomes of the programs; create conditions for students to participate in domestic and international exchange programs.

Regarding this issue, Dr. Le Anh Duc, Head of Training Management Department, said that in the past year, the school has begun to focus on improving input standards through enrollment, attracting students with excellent abilities (in the top 10% of the best in the country).

In addition, the school also prioritizes students with English skills according to international standards. Specifically, in 2024, 70% of admitted students will have an IELTS certificate of 5.5 or higher, with an entrance score of 26 or higher.

With the output standards, the school requires students to achieve 5.5 before graduation with standard Vietnamese training programs; 6.0-6.5 with high-quality English training programs, POHE...

In addition, the school also organizes training in a second foreign language for students to create more advantages and differences. Initially, the school organizes with 3 foreign languages including Chinese, Korean, and Japanese.

Regarding increasing the “practical” nature of learners, Dr. Le Anh Duc said that the school has included in all regular university training programs applied from the 2024 enrollment period the “Practical Topic” course with 4 credits to increase the practical content in the training process. The team of lecturers and lecturers come from outside organizations and businesses to improve the effectiveness of situational exercises.

In addition, to help students gain more basic knowledge and skills to adapt to the requirements of the digital economy and digital society, the school also includes the subject "Basic Data Science in Economics & Business" with 3 credits.

The course will equip students with basic knowledge and skills in data, technology, engineering, etc. "These will help students be ready to adapt to the labor market right after graduation," said Dr. Le Anh Duc.
