25 people killed in RSF attack in Sudan

At least 25 people were killed and 30 others injured in an artillery attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on August 26 in Sudan.

At least 25 people were killed and 30 others injured in an artillery attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on August 26 in El Fasher, the capital of the state, health officials in Sudan's North Darfur state said on August 27.

According to Ibrahim Khatir, head of the health department in North Darfur state, RSF shelled a market at a camp for displaced people in the Abu Shouk area.

The injured were taken to hospitals and medical centers in the area for treatment.

Meanwhile, on Facebook, the Resistance Committee in El Fasher said that RSF attacked the Sub-Saharan University in El Fasher, destroying the main hall, laboratories, archives and other buildings.

RSF has not yet commented on the above incidents.

Since May 10, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and RSF have been fighting fiercely in El Fasher.

The conflict between the SAF and RSF broke out on April 15, 2023, and has so far killed at least 16,650 people.

According to the latest United Nations figures, some 10.7 million people have been internally displaced in Sudan, while another 2.2 million have fled to neighboring countries.
