Xuan Son's brilliant debut helps Vietnam team win big against Myanmar

In dire need of a win against Myanmar, coach Kim Sang-sik put Nguyen Xuan Son on the field from the start. Indeed, the striker born in 1997 soon showed the difference. In just the first 10 minutes, Nguyen Xuan Son had 2 consecutive dangerous shots that could have been converted into goals but he was not successful.

The first dangerous chance came to the Vietnamese team in the 26th minute. Van Toan crossed well, but Vi Hao missed when he missed the ball from 5 meters away. 10 minutes later, it was Hoang Duc's turn to challenge the Myanmar goalkeeper, his header unfortunately hit the post. 3 minutes later, Quang Hai had a beautiful shot but the post still denied the Vietnamese team a goal.

At the end of the first half, Nguyen Xuan dribbled and created a great assist, but Van Vi's shot missed the goal from less than 10 meters away. On the other side of the battle line, Myanmar had 2 notable shots by Lwin Moe Aung, but Dinh Trieu controlled the situation.

In the second half, the Vietnamese team continued to push up the formation and quickly made a difference. In the 48th minute, Nguyen Xuan Son had a great pass inside for Vi Hao to finish into an empty net to open the score for the Vietnamese team. Just 6 minutes later, Vi Hao also assisted Xuan Son to eliminate the Myanmar defender. The striker born in 1997 finished with a tricky shot to double the gap for the Vietnamese team.

At this point, the Myanmar team seemed exhausted and could not withstand the attacks of the Vietnamese team. Coach Kim Sang-sik did not want to stop when he brought Tien Linh and Tan Tai onto the field to search for a goal. Without making the fans wait long, the Vietnamese team continued to score more goals.

In the 74th minute, Nguyen Quang Hai widened the gap to 3 goals with a beautiful shot from outside the penalty area. Vi Hao had another chance to put the ball into the opponent's net but was in an offside position. In the 90th minute, Xuan Son handled the ball very well in the penalty area and finished powerfully to raise the score to 4-0. Tien Linh scored in extra time to help Vietnam set the score at 5-0. Thus, the Vietnamese team will meet Singapore in the semi-finals of the AFF Cup 2024.
