Naturalized striker Nguyen Xuan Son will participate in the AFF Cup 2024 after he is officially licensed to play.
Striker Nguyen Xuan Son was called up by coach Kim Sang-sik to the Vietnam national team for the 2024 AFF Cup. Xuan Son was confirmed by FIFA to be eligible to play and approved by the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) to participate in the tournament.
Nguyen Xuan Son will join the Vietnam national team on December 6. That is also the time when coach Kim Sang-sik and the players will leave for Laos to prepare for the first match at the AFF Cup 2024.
However, the striker born in 1997 can only play from the match against Myanmar at home in the group stage. Nguyen Xuan Son first came to Vietnam in December 2019. This December, the player of Nam Dinh club will meet the residency requirements according to FIFA regulations.

But in difficult matches, the Brazilian striker is still a useful option.
On December 3, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team returned home and announced the list of 26 players before going to Laos to play the opening match of the AFF Cup 2024. The Vietnamese team is in Group B of the ASEAN Cup 2024 with the Philippines, Laos, Indonesia and Myanmar. Quang Hai and his teammates will face Laos in the opening match.
