The rapid development of television technology allows viewers to watch programs anytime, anywhere with high-quality sound, images and rich content. Many people have compared modern television to making the world seem "in the palm of their hand".
When television was a rarity
More than 30 years ago, in Hai Duong, people watched black and white TV on traditional channels and there were only a few free TV channels, mainly news programs, sports, movies... with limited broadcast time. However, it was not easy to watch, because at that time, a TV was a big asset, not every family had one. Every evening, when the TV was turned on, the whole neighborhood echoed with the familiar shouts of people outside turning the antenna and people inside sitting "watching" to see if the TV was clear:
- Okay?
- Not yet, go back. Okay. It's clear!
I still remember around 1997, when National Highway 5 was just completed, standing on Dong Nien overpass (the only overpass on National Highway 5 through Hai Duong at that time) looking down at Mat market (Nguyen Thi Due street, Hai Duong city), almost every house had a set of antennas, some high, some low, just like a swarm of dragonflies fluttering around.
That's in the city, but in the countryside, there are much fewer antennas because very few houses have TVs. In the countryside, 14-inch Samsung, Sanyo... red or gray TVs, even though they were used when bought, were only available to well-off families, because each one was worth several tons of rice. Then, in the time before the electricity grid, in the countryside, even if there were TVs, watching a whole program was a "project". TVs used batteries, and when they ran out of power, they had to be transported to a place with electricity to be charged. Then TVs ran on rocket fragments, on mortar batteries soaked in salt water... Once, while watching, the power was low, the TV screen was blurry, darkened and gradually became smaller, which was called "shrinking the image" of the TV.
There are few TV shows, monotonous programs, but because of that, there are movies, movie characters, movie soundtracks... that have followed the memories of many generations, until now. Those are the movies Isaura, Oshin, Thorn Birds, Little House on the Prairie. Or classic Vietnamese movies: Flip Cards, Saigon Special Forces, Hanoi Baby... Or every summer, children gather to watch Journey to the West...
View on multiple platforms and devices
Technology has developed rapidly, televisions with vivid colors, sound, and large screens have become very common items. Televisions are "spread" from the bedroom, to the living room, to the dining room.
The programs are also rich and diverse, covering all areas, from economics - politics - culture - education - sports - entertainment - movies - shopping - tourism... Not only domestic TV channels, viewers also have access to countless foreign channels. No longer just buying programs, Vietnamese journalists and reporters are also stationed all over the world, producing their own programs to serve domestic viewers.
Hai Duong Radio and Television Station is also not out of that cycle. In recent years, audiences inside and outside the province, Hai Duong people abroad have easily accessed the province's television station. Mr. Tran Van Phu (from Hai Duong City), a Vietnamese expatriate in the Czech Republic, has been away from home for many years but still takes the opportunity to grasp the current situation of Hai Duong through his smartphone. "Although it is 4 hours behind Vietnam, I can still watch the news in my hometown. The work at the store is very busy but I always turn up the volume so I can sell and listen at the same time. Just over 10 years ago, it was very difficult to contact my hometown, let alone be able to watch my hometown's TV like now," said Mr. Phu.
Currently, Hai Duong Radio and Television's programs have developed multi-platform, helping audiences watch on many devices, and can watch live news programs directly on Facebook and YouTube. With the development of technology, audiences no longer need to use antennas. The broadcasting time of the stations also meets the needs of audiences 24/24 hours...
The development of television has helped audiences no longer depend on the TV as before, but has been widely developed through many platforms and devices. You can watch your favorite TV channels anywhere through phones, desktops, laptops, iPads...
Especially since the appearance of smartphones and the continuous upgrading of the telephone network, a phone also has the function of a television with many television viewing applications such as TV360, VTV Go, FPT Play... Or just open any electronic newspaper, readers can also watch television. Not only "watch", today television can also be "watched again", because it is possible to rewind any program that is being broadcast, except live television; or you can save a favorite program to watch at your leisure time.
