An SUV owner in India was worried about the quality of his newly purchased Tata Safari after only 18 days of ownership. The tire exploded on the highway, causing the car to lose control and cause a serious accident.
There has been an increase in the number of tyre bursts reported in India recently, especially during the summer. Tyre bursts at high speeds can cause serious accidents. A recent incident in Karnataka was reported by Cartoq, where a brand new Tata Safari, which had just left the dealership 18 days ago, lost control and rolled over several times on the highway due to a tyre burst. Raviteja Devarapalli, the owner of the car, said that he was travelling with his family on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway, with four adults and three children in the car.
While driving on the highway, the right front tire of the SUV suddenly exploded. Immediately, the car lost control and flipped at least 3 times on the road before crashing into the median strip. The car owner said the speed of the car right before the accident was about 80-90 km/h.
Fortunately, all passengers escaped with only minor injuries. The cause of the tire blowout is still unclear, as most modern cars are equipped with tire pressure warning systems to alert drivers to over-inflation.
The car owner said he was shocked when his brand new SUV had a flat tire. He had just bought the high-end Tata Safari just 18 days before the accident.
According to some of the posted images, it can be seen that the Safari SUV absorbed the impact quite well. The driver's side A-pillar and the roof were damaged. All four doors, along with the hood and front bumper, were dented. All the airbags in the car deployed in time, saving the lives of the occupants. The sunroof and rear door of the SUV were also broken after the collision.
Raviteja Devarapalli expressed his anger after RSA towed his crashed car to another dealership in Bengaluru instead of the one where he originally bought it. Raviteja Devarapalli wants Tata Motors to look into the matter and investigate the matter.
He wrote a letter asking the dealer and the company to intervene and check all the tires for any defects or if the car simply hit an object at high speed, leading to the accident. He also asked Tata to compensate him with a new one.
