SUVs are the new choice of consumers and car manufacturers have quickly grasped this to create high-chassis vehicles that are not only powerful but also luxurious with expensive prices to meet the needs of the rich.

SUVs are becoming increasingly popular due to their versatility and spacious interiors. Luxury car brands also want to turn these SUVs into the pinnacle of luxury by combining power, superior performance and luxury into a single package.

Of course, that comes with a hefty price tag, often in the six figures. In return, buyers of these luxury SUVs enjoy the exclusive benefits that automakers offer. Here are the eight most luxurious and expensive SUVs in the world.

8. Mercedes-AMG G63 ($179,000)

The G-Class is considered a timeless masterpiece in the Mercedes Benz lineup with outstanding off-road capabilities based on a separate chassis platform. But the AMG G63 has cut some of the off-road capabilities in exchange for luxury and exciting sounds.

The Mercedes-AMG G63 has a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 engine with a capacity of up to 577 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque, combined with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Although the square shape makes this car not very aerodynamic, the AMG G63 still has the ability to accelerate from 0-100 km/h impressively, only 4.5 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 240 km/h.

Luxury and sportiness coexist inside the Mercedes-AMG 63, with leather and carbon fiber in equal measure. The five-seat configuration allows for more legroom and trunk space. However, at $179,000, we’re just at the tip of the iceberg when it comes to expensive luxury SUVs.

7. Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT ($196,300)

The Cayenne Turbo GT is a car developed by Porsche's GT division with the aim of expressing the performance power of the leading sports car brand in the form of a luxury SUV Coupe. The Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT takes only 3.1 seconds to accelerate from 0-100 km/h with the Sport Chrono package, a remarkable achievement for a car weighing nearly 2.3 tons.

This powerful performance is thanks to a 4.0L twin-turbo V-8 engine with 650 horsepower and 849 Nm of torque. This is also one of the fastest SUVs today with a top speed of 299 km/h. The car is equipped with carbon ceramic brakes to ensure effective braking.

The status of an expensive SUV is proven inside the car with carbon, leather and Alcantara materials, giving a premium feel by combining the best of the world and optimizing them in one car.

6. Range Rover SV LWB ($234,000)

The 2023 Range Rover SV stands out not only as one of the largest SUVs on this list, but also as the first to break the $200,000 barrier. In the long-wheelbase version, the Range Rover SV costs up to $234,000, giving occupants more legroom and a combination of luxury, power, and impressive off-road capability.

Under the hood of the Range Rover SUV is a twin-turbocharged 4.4L V-8 engine from BMW's M division, producing 606 horsepower, 750 Nm of torque, and an 8-speed automatic transmission.

While the car’s off-road capabilities are undeniable, the appeal of the Range Rover SV lies in its interior, which exudes luxury with premium leather and wood, along with a long list of options and customizations to suit the owner’s needs.

5. Aston Martin DBX 707 ($236,000)

The list of the most expensive SUVs certainly cannot be without the Aston Martin DBX 707, the most powerful luxury SUV in the world. The car's power comes from a twin-turbocharged 4.0L AMG V-8 engine with 697 horsepower and 899 Nm, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 3.1 seconds and reaching a maximum speed of 311 km/h.

Inside the expensive SUV focuses on performance trends but does not forget luxury with leather upholstery, Alcantara and carbon fiber materials.

The Aston Martin DBX 707 represents a compelling combination of luxury and performance, reinforcing the brand's presence in the expensive luxury SUV market. Of course, the price for users to own it is not cheap, up to 236,000 USD.

4. Lamborghini Urus Performante ($260,000)

Lamborghini has raised the bar with the Urus Performante, creating a performance SUV that is visually, aurally and mechanically impressive. The new version builds on the original Urus, reducing weight and increasing power, creating one of the fastest SUVs on the road today.

With 657 horsepower and 850 Nm from a 4.0L twin-turbo V-8 engine combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission, the Lamborghini Urus Performante can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 306 km/h. In addition, the Urus Performante also offers Rally driving mode for fun in high-speed off-road excursions.

3. Bentley Bentayga EWB Mulliner ($339,150)

The Bentley Bentayga EWB Mulliner is a testament to Bentley's commitment to creating the most luxurious cars possible, and Mulliner is the dedicated Bentley division that will take on this responsibility.

The acronym “EWB” stands for “Extended Wheelbase,” suggesting more space and luxury in the back, with seats designed to resemble business class airline seats. But the focus here is on the styling details crafted by Mulliner that give this expensive SUV a uniquely luxurious feel.

The Bentley Bentayga EWB Mulliner is powered by the same twin-turbocharged 4.0L V-8 found in the Urus and Cayenne on this list. With 542 horsepower and 567 lb-ft of torque, it can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 4.5 seconds.

2. Ferrari Purosangue (400,000 USD)

The Purosangue is the first 4-door, 4-seat high-chassis car produced by Ferrari, with a door opening style similar to Rolls-Royce. The luxury does not stop there, to prove its price of 400,000 USD, the Ferrari Purosangue is equipped with a 6.5L V-12 engine with a capacity of 715 horsepower and 716 Nm of torque.

These special specifications deliver incredible performance, helping the Ferrari Purosangue accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 311 km/h.

Despite its high price tag, Ferrari has had no trouble selling the Purosangue, with orders already booked for the next two years. However, even Ferrari’s expensive SUV still can’t top this list.

1. Rolls-Royce Black Badge Cullinan (450,500 USD)

The most expensive SUV currently on sale is the Black Badge version of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, which is considered the pinnacle of luxury. From the handcrafted interior to the elegant exterior, everything showcases the perfection of automotive craftsmanship.

Under the hood is a twin-turbocharged 6.75L V-12 engine with 592 horsepower and 900 torque, helping the Cullinan accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds with a top speed of 250 km/h.

When buying a Black Badge, people rarely choose standard equipment and often delve into the extensive options list, which can push the price well beyond half a million dollars. From the black trim and custom wheels to the hand-painted detailing, the Black Badge Cullinan is a true Rolls-Royce bargain.
