The MG G50 model has 3 versions, targeting both family and service business customers.
On March 29, distributor SAIC Vietnam launched the MG G50 model with 3 versions, including MT COM priced at 559 million VND, AT DEL 689 million VND and AT LUX 749 million VND. The two lower versions have 8-seat configuration, while the highest-end version has two options, 7 or 8 seats.
The G50 is MG's first MPV model in Vietnam, positioned in the mid-size segment. All three versions of the G50 are imported from the parent company's factory - SAIC in China.
The exterior styling of the MG G50 is somewhat similar to the M6 Pro or Custin. The car's design is graceful at the front but gradually becomes square and blocky towards the rear. The two competitors of the G50 also have their roots in the world's largest car market in terms of sales.
The grille of the manual and automatic versions is slightly different. Roof rails are only available on the highest version.
MG G50 is equipped with projector headlights, halogen technology, 16-inch rims on the two low and LED versions, 17-inch rims on the highest version. All versions are equipped with front/rear disc brakes, MacPherson front suspension and rear torsion beam.
In terms of interior, to cut costs to the maximum, the manual version only has a simple radio system, the steering wheel does not have function keys. The two automatic versions install the gear lever behind the steering wheel.
All seats on the two lower versions are fabric. Leather seats are only available on the higher version. The two automatic versions are equipped with a 12.3-inch touch screen entertainment screen, a 10.25-inch speedometer, and automatic air conditioning.
MG G50 is equipped with a 1.5 turbocharged petrol engine with a capacity of 169 horsepower, torque of 258 Nm. 6-speed manual transmission or 7-speed automatic wet clutch depending on the version. All are front-wheel drive.
The lowest version has some basic safety technologies such as electronic balance, rear parking sensors, tire pressure sensors, hill start assist. The two higher versions have a rear camera, automatic cruise control, automatic brake hold. The number of airbags is 2 on the two lower versions and 4 on the highest version.
The G50's pricing and configurations target different customer groups. The base model is aimed primarily at service businesses who prioritize a spacious, low-priced vehicle. While the two higher versions appeal to more family-oriented customers.
The appearance of MG's MPV model promises to create greater competition in the multi-purpose vehicle segment with the second largest sales in the Vietnamese market in 2024, after small crossover (CUV).
