Answer: Pursuant to Decree 100/2019/ND-CP (amended and supplemented by Decree 123/2021/ND-CP and effective from January 1, 2022), depending on the type of vehicle being driven, the act of not complying with traffic light signals (running red lights or yellow lights in violation of regulations) will be punished as follows:
- For those driving cars and similar vehicles, the fine is from 4-6 million VND (previously the fine was from 3-5 million VND). In addition, the driver's license will be revoked for 1-3 months.
- For those who ride motorbikes, mopeds (including electric motorbikes), motorbike-like vehicles and moped-like vehicles, the fine is from 800,000 to 1 million VND (previously the fine was from 600,000 to 1 million VND); the driving license is revoked for 1-3 months.
- For drivers of tractors and specialized motorbikes, the fine is from 2-3 million VND (previously the fine was from 1-2 million VND); the driver's license (when driving tractors) and the certificate of training in road traffic law (when driving specialized motorbikes) will be revoked for 1-3 months.
- For cyclists, motorbike riders (including electric bicycles), and drivers of other rudimentary vehicles, fines range from 100,000 to 200,000 VND.
