Hai Duong police install propaganda signs about fines for running red lights

On January 5, the Road Traffic Police Team, Traffic Police Department (Hai Duong Provincial Police) said that the unit has simultaneously deployed measures to propagate, guide and handle violations according to Decree 168/2024/ND-CP of the Government on regulations on administrative sanctions in the field of road traffic; deducting points and restoring driving license points.

The unit has printed and installed propaganda signs about the fines for red light violations and driving in the wrong direction at nearly 50 locations on national highways under the team’s responsibility. Accordingly, the fine for running a red light is up to 20 million VND for cars and 6 million VND for motorbikes. This is to create awareness of voluntary compliance among traffic participants.

In the first 3 days of implementing Decree 168/2024/ND-CP, the Road Traffic Police Team, Traffic Police Department detected and handled 63 cases of traffic safety violations, fined 197.6 million VND, detained 5 vehicles, and deducted driving license points from 21 cases. Of which, 33 cases were speeding violations, 5 cases were alcohol concentration violations, 1 case was driving in the wrong direction, 6 cases were stopping and parking in violation of regulations...

Since Decree 168 took effect, the number of traffic safety violations has decreased significantly.

Currently, local police forces in the province are also installing propaganda signs about the fines for red light violations at intersections with traffic lights.

Increasing the level of penalties and applying the mechanism of deducting driving license points initially created positive effects, raising people's awareness of compliance.
