The upgraded mid-size luxury SUV has refined design, improved technology and features.
Swedish luxury car brand Volvo has introduced the 2025 XC90 to the global market. The 2025 XC90 is a mid-life upgrade (facelift) version of the second generation. The three-row luxury SUV was first introduced in 2015 and was most recently updated in late 2019.
In the 2025 version, the XC90 focuses on improving the hybrid powertrain, refining the exterior design and interior using higher-quality materials.
The facelifted XC90 takes inspiration from the EX90 electric model with a new diagonal grille. The LED daytime running lights have a refined design. The front bumper is new with a vertical air vent layout, while the lower air intakes extend further than before. The LED taillights retain their familiar shape.
In addition to the new, higher-quality materials, the new XC90 has upgraded the infotainment touchscreen from 9 inches to 11.2 inches in portrait orientation. The new screen has a higher resolution with a 21% increase in pixel density. Volvo has created shortcuts to home screen apps and controls, making it easier and faster to access favorite functions. For example, select the XC90 plug-in hybrid and EV driving modes with just one touch.
The Swedish luxury car brand also added soundproofing to some parts of the XC90 to make the cabin quieter. The center console has redesigned air vents, along with decorative panels made from recycled materials. The car is equipped with additional cup holders in the center, and the wireless charging tray is repositioned for easier operation.
The 2025 XC90 is equipped with a new T8 PHEV engine, consisting of a 306-horsepower gasoline engine combined with a 143-horsepower electric motor. The car can travel 70 km in pure electric mode when fully charged. The pure electric operating range of the XC90 is smaller than its rival Audi Q7 PHEV at 84 km.
While the 247-horsepower turbocharged B5 four-cylinder and the 296-horsepower turbocharged or supercharged B6 mild hybrid promise improved fuel economy. The XC90's air suspension comes standard, and can be raised by 4mm or lowered by 2mm. Active chassis technology monitors the road and the car up to 500 times a second for a smoother ride.
According to plan, Volvo XC90 2025 will be sold at the end of 2024, price announced at the same time.
