Vietjet Air and Airbus have just signed a contract to purchase 20 new generation wide-body aircraft A330neo (A330-900) with a total value of 7.4 billion USD.
On the opening day of the Farnborough Airshow 2024, Vietjet Air and Airbus signed a contract to purchase 20 new generation wide-body aircraft A330neo (A330-900) with a total value of 7.4 billion USD.
This is one of the largest deals at this year’s Airshow. The aircraft will be operated on the airline’s growing long-haul network as well as on high-demand routes in the region. The new aircraft will replace the airline’s current A330-300 fleet and support its further network expansion plans.
Speaking at the event, Vietjet Board Chairwoman, Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, said: “The new A330neo aircraft is a strategic addition to Vietjet’s fleet development, enhancing operational capacity to serve the airline’s global flight network development.
The presence of the advanced, fuel-efficient A330neo aircraft in Vietjet's fleet is part of Vietjet's sustainable development strategy with ESG goals, reducing net emissions to 0 (Net-Zero) by 2050. Passengers will soon be able to fly on longer, safe, comfortable, and modern routes.
Airbus aircraft have helped Vietjet bring cost-saving flying opportunities to more than 200 million passengers that Vietjet has carried, many of whom have never flown before. Vietjet's safe flights connect countries, peoples, continents, promote economic development, cultural exchange, and tourism.
“We are delighted to have concluded this important order with one of Asia’s fastest growing airlines,” said Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus Executive Vice President, Commercial Aircraft.
This once again demonstrates the confidence in Airbus’ latest generation widebody aircraft. The A330neo aircraft offer outstanding flexibility, suitable for all business models and flight networks from domestic, regional to long-haul.
The award-winning Airspace cabin design also enables airlines to deliver the best possible passenger experience, customisable to each business model. This will be the perfect platform for Vietjet to carry more passengers on longer routes at lower costs, while reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions.”
The A330neo features the award-winning Airspace cabin design, setting a new standard in comfort, space and design, offering passengers a unique flying experience.
This superiority is reflected in more personal space, larger overhead bins, next-generation lighting, the most advanced in-flight entertainment system and full connectivity. Equipped with the most advanced Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, the A330-900 has a continuous range of 7,200nm/13,300km.
Operating a fleet of more than 105 aircraft with a continuously growing number of passengers transported every year, Vietjet is actively expanding its flight network across the continents, developing a new and modern fleet with strategic partner Airbus Group in the coming time.
Vietjet is an official member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and holds the IOSA Operational Safety Audit certificate.
