Vietnam ranks 2nd in the top 5 most attractive destinations for Americans in summer 2023

Vietnam is introduced by travel website Travel Off Path as one of the most attractive countries this summer, along with Japan, New Zealand, France and Italy.

According to data from the Expedia booking platform, the pandemic situation has eased, making tourism activities bustling. It is not yet the end of March but the number of searches for destinations has increased by 50% compared to the previous year.

The fact that many tourists are interested in upcoming holidays is a good sign of recovery and even remarkable growth of the global tourism industry.

Here are the top five countries with the most searches and the most interest from Americans, according to Expedia:

Japan

Japan has many attractive factors for tourists such as long-standing cultural identity, diverse cuisine, modern and ancient features gracefully blending in famous cities such as Tokyo, Osaka, Yokohama, Sapporo, Kyoto...

The culture of hot mineral baths onsen or the art of Kabuki theater that has existed for a long time in this country are also experiences that attract international tourists.

The search rates for the keywords Osaka and Tokyo skyrocketed by 771% and 336% respectively on Expedia, showing the "huge" travel demand of American people after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Vietnam

The second Asian country that receives the admiration of many American tourists is Vietnam.

Search and booking rates in the coastal city of Da Nang increased by 439%, followed by the capital Hanoi with a 298% increase and Ho Chi Minh City with a 219% increase.

This data shows that international tourists tend to choose new destinations for their trips compared to the time before the pandemic broke out.

According to the American travel website Travel Off Path, Hanoi (one of the most attractive cities for international tourists) is known as the "art capital" with interesting architectural works and a culture with centuries of history.

New Zealand

Despite the geographical distance, the capital Wellington has become one of the top 5 destinations for American tourists, with a 465% increase in searches on Expedia.

The most populous urban area, Auckland, also saw a 267% increase, a sign that the country will attract a large number of international visitors in the summer of 2023.

France

France has been a favorite destination for American tourists for many summers, but after a long shutdown due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the country has become even more interested (searches have nearly doubled this year, up 219%).

The capital Paris has always been one of the most famous cities in the world, along with New York and Madrid.

France has around 640 Michelin-starred restaurants, making Paris and other French tourist destinations a popular destination for foodies around the world.

Italy

Italy has long been a popular destination for those with a passion for travel.

However, 2023 saw a surge in American interest in the Southern European country, with searches for cities like Rome increasing by 201% and Venice increasing by 148%.

The reason for this unusual increase is that the canals in Venice are drying up, which is urging tourists to visit as soon as possible.
