Hai Duong youth contribute to summer volunteering

30 days and nights of overcoming the sun and rain

During the summer days of June, Nguyen Cao Cuong and his fellow youth union members from Ngo Quyen commune (Thanh Mien) participated in supporting the construction of the 500 kV line 3. At the two high-voltage power poles, the youth transported equipment and repaired tents for the workers to ensure safe construction and early completion of the project. All were enthusiastic and ready to contribute their efforts to support the construction force. For the first time participating in a national project, Cuong felt very meaningful and proud.

From June 1, the Central Youth Union launched a 30-day and night peak emulation campaign determined to complete the 500 kV line 3 project on schedule. Hai Duong is one of the 9 provinces where the project passes through, so the Provincial Youth Union identified this as an important task of the 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign and directed the Youth Union chapters at all levels with key points passing through to quickly develop plans and support solutions to ensure the spirit of "only discussing work, no backtracking", construction "3 shifts, 4 shifts", working on holidays, working through holidays but ensuring health.

There are 25 teams with 625 young volunteers supporting the outer activities during the construction process. Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh, Secretary of Thanh Mien District Youth Union - one of the localities where the 500 kV line passes through, said that the youth union members in the district have actively supported the local government, construction units and people to move furniture and clear the corridor where the power line passes through...

Despite the scorching heat of the summer days of June, with the enthusiasm of youth, the members still worked enthusiastically. After 30 days and nights of volunteering to overcome the sun and rain, the young volunteers supported the dismantling of 18 houses, 16 barns, and architectural structures in the corridor. They agreed on a compensation plan, cleared trees at 12 poles, and supported people to harvest 5.2 hectares of rice and crops...

At the mid-term review conference of the peak emulation period of volunteering to participate in accelerating the progress of the 500 kV transmission line circuit 3 Quang Trach - Pho Noi project organized by the Central Youth Union in mid-June, Hai Duong was one of the four provinces that were commended for completing 100% of the workload during the peak emulation period.

Also in June, Hai Duong Provincial Youth Union launched 8 "Red Flamboyant" volunteer teams in 2024, including: young intellectuals for the community, learning English with children, Red Flamboyant reporters, digital transformation soldiers, soldiers in charge of children, shock artists, environmental protection and traffic safety soldiers, volunteer soldiers for gratitude activities. These are students from high schools, vocational education centers - continuing education centers in the province.

The "Red Flamboyant" volunteers support all levels of the Youth Union to organize free English classes, digital transformation classes; environmental sanitation activities, beautifying roads, building environmental and urban landscapes; organizing recreational activities for children, focusing on training skills to prevent school violence, drowning, accidents, injuries, violence, and child abuse.

This summer, Nguyen Duc Nhat Minh, Nguyen Van Cu High School, Hai Duong City, volunteered to join the "Red Flamboyant" soldier team. "I want to equip myself with basic knowledge to prepare for grades 11 and 12 and soft skills. Therefore, I joined the "Red Flamboyant" campaign, teaching assistant at a free English class. Through this, I want to spread the enthusiasm of young people, helping those in difficult circumstances," said Nhat Minh.

In addition to English classes, this summer, the Youth Union at all levels also organizes many other free classes such as swimming, art, and organ lessons. Each class has a team of volunteers ready to support.

Also in June, the Youth Union at all levels in the province mobilized 106 youth volunteer teams with about 2,000 volunteers to participate in supporting two important exams: the 10th grade entrance exam and the high school graduation exam.

“Red Flamboyant Flower” and “Supporting the Exam Season” are just two important campaigns of the summer youth volunteer season. The 2024 summer youth volunteer campaign with the theme “Hai Duong Youth Pioneers in Creativity - Pioneers in Innovation” focuses on five major campaigns: Supporting the Exam Season, Green Summer, Green March, Pink Vacation and Red Flamboyant Flower.

The 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign is of great significance, marking the 25-year journey of summer volunteering for Hai Duong youth in particular and the whole country in general. This is a familiar campaign every summer, when young volunteers contribute their hands and minds to build and develop their homeland and country. For each young person, the campaign is a place to inspire and create an environment for young people to contribute, practice and mature. Promoting the spirit of youthful enthusiasm, young volunteers are ready to go anywhere, do anything.
