Quang Minh Primary School helps children love the sea and islands

Not everyone has the opportunity to visit Hoang Sa and Truong Sa, especially students who are still in school. Therefore, building a model of the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelago landmarks in schools has helped students have a correct understanding of the sea and islands and a sense of protecting the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland.

Vu Thi Ngoc Anh, a 4th grader, said that despite the geographical distance, when studying under the model of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa island landmarks, she and her friends felt like they were on the islands. The vivid visual model of the landmarks also helped her and her friends understand and remember the knowledge better.

As for each teacher, when teaching under the model of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa island landmarks, sacred and proud emotions well up. In each piece of information about the sea and islands, each teacher tries to convey it deeply, helping to naturally evoke love for the country from the students.

Teacher Pham Thi Mai Huong, a teacher at Quang Minh Primary School, said: “The model of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa island landmarks helps teachers teach about sovereignty over seas and islands more conveniently, helping students easily visualize, imagine and realize that our country has sovereignty over the sacred territory at sea.”

In September 2022, the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa island landmark project was built on an area of ​​about 150 m2.², including a model of Vietnam map, Hoang Sa and Truong Sa island landmarks and beautiful green landscape. The model of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa island landmarks is about 1.6 m high, with longitude and latitude recorded... Construction costs come from the source of young projects, youth projects and sponsorship from parents of students of the school.

Mr. Nguyen Van Quan, Principal of Quang Minh Primary School, said that the model of Truong Sa and Hoang Sa island landmarks helps the school educate generations of students about patriotism, ignites the tradition of their ancestors, the determination to defend the country and be ready to fight to protect the sovereignty of the sacred sea and islands of the Fatherland. The project was built with the purpose of both educating direct experience and creating a landscape in the school.

“We want to send the message that even though we are in a rural area of ​​Hai Duong province, in the hearts of each teacher and student, Truong Sa, Hoang Sa and those who are guarding the beloved sea and islands day and night are always there,” said teacher Quan.

Not only propagating and educating students about sea and island sovereignty through the model of Truong Sa and Hoang Sa island landmarks, Quang Minh Primary School also diversifies educational forms such as integrating content about sea and islands into regular lessons, flag salutes and extracurricular activities. Notably, recently, the school's teachers have painstakingly made a model of a Vietnam map to educate students about sea and island sovereignty.

It is known that Quang Minh Primary School is the only unit in Hai Duong province that has built this model to educate students about sea and island sovereignty.
