Lieutenant General To An Xo: Mr. Le Thanh Than's case will be tried in June

The case involving Mr. Le Thanh Than, Chairman of Muong Thanh Group, and a number of defendants who have just been prosecuted by the Hanoi People's Procuracy will be brought to trial next June.

At the regular Government press conference on the afternoon of May 5, Lieutenant General To An Xo, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Security, said that the case of "deceiving customers and lack of responsibility causing serious consequences" that occurred at the CT6 Kien Hung project, Kien Hung ward, Ha Dong district, Hanoi, against Mr. Le Thanh Than and 6 other defendants will be tried next June.

According to Lieutenant General To An Xo, the case against Mr. Le Thanh Than, Chairman of Muong Thanh Group, was conducted by the Hanoi Police Investigation Agency. According to the report, on July 5, 2019, the Hanoi Police Investigation Agency issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the defendant for defrauding customers and sent it to the Hanoi People's Procuracy for consideration and approval.

On July 8, 2019, the Hanoi People's Procuracy approved the decision to prosecute the accused by the Investigation Police Agency (Hanoi Police) against Mr. Le Thanh Than, Chairman of Muong Thanh Group. However, this accused was not detained but was released on bail and at the same time applied preventive measures to prohibit him from leaving his place of residence.

On October 21, 2019, the Hanoi People's Procuracy continued to prosecute 6 other individuals for the crime of lack of responsibility causing serious consequences because they were related to the violations of tycoon Le Thanh Than.

Among them are Nguyen Duy Uyen, Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Hung Ward, Ha Dong District; Vuong Dang Quan, former Deputy Chief Inspector of Construction in Ha Dong District; Mai Quang Bai, officer of the Construction Order Management Team in Ha Dong District and 3 others.

The spokesman of the Ministry of Public Security also said that the case of "deceiving customers, lack of responsibility causing serious consequences" that occurred at the CT6 Kien Hung project, Kien Hung ward, Ha Dong district, Hanoi had been supplemented with five investigations, so it has lasted from 2019 until now.

“Currently, the Hanoi People's Procuracy has issued an indictment against the above 7 defendants and is expected to try them this June,” Lieutenant General To An Xo added.

Regarding the investigation into the violations at Viet A Company, according to Mr. Xo, the Ministry of Public Security is actively and urgently investigating and is expected to have a conclusion in the first quarter of this year. However, due to the complexity of the case, the Ministry of Public Security has proposed to the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption and Negativity to extend the investigation and strive to conclude the investigation in the second quarter of 2023.
