Hai Duong City is focusing on urban renovation and facelift to celebrate the 220th anniversary of the founding of Thanh Dong (1804-2024) and the 70th anniversary of the city's liberation (October 30, 1954-October 30, 2024).
Ward and commune competition
This coming October, Hai Duong City will celebrate important milestones in its development and growth. To prepare for this important anniversary, 25 wards and communes of the city are enthusiastically carrying out urban beautification projects, competing to contribute to making the appearance of a class I urban area more spacious and modern.
Tan Binh Ward is the locality that has registered to carry out the most urban beautification projects among the city's communes and wards on this occasion. Of the 8 projects, the ward has completed 6 projects related to installing lighting systems, improving the environment, planting flowers, paving sidewalks, etc. Currently, the ward is urgently implementing 2 major projects: expanding Tan Binh Kindergarten and connecting traffic, building a cultural house in Zone 6. The 2 projects are expected to be completed in early October, right on the occasion of the anniversary activities. According to Mr. Nguyen Tac Luy, Chairman of Tan Binh Ward People's Committee, in addition to the projects registered with the city, the ward has also proactively implemented many items to upgrade and renovate alleys, lanes, and erect welcome gates. Since the beginning of the year, the ward has mobilized 850 million VND from social sources to carry out urban beautification projects. "People are very supportive of the policy, enthusiastically contributing money, labor, and land to make the ward cleaner, more beautiful, and more spacious," said Mr. Luy.
This time, wards and communes of Hai Duong city implemented 61 urban beautification projects. By early August, localities had completed and put into use 42 projects. The remaining projects are being urgently implemented. In addition to the city budget support, wards and communes, the majority of the implementation funding comes from socialized sources. Mobilizing external resources for urban beautification not only reduces pressure on the state budget but also promotes the spirit and enhances the role of people and businesses in building and beautifying the city.
The Viet Hoa Ward Business and Entrepreneurs Club has just handed over an urban beautification project worth VND210 million to the locality. The club has installed colored lights, billboards, and propaganda posters on Cam Hoa Street. Mr. Nguyen Van Thap, Chairman of the Club, said: “We always support local movements and activities within our capacity. Participating in urban beautification activities and contributing to building a civilized urban area is also the responsibility of each business.”
Highlight project
In addition to the work carried out by wards and communes, the city also urgently deployed 11 urban beautification projects to create impressions and highlights for the city with a total cost of nearly 87 billion VND.
Projects to install lighting systems on Hoang Ngan, Nguyen Luong Bang, An Dinh streets, repair the Ho Chi Minh Memorial House, renovate the drainage system, and block sidewalks on Nguyen Luong Bang street have been completed. The Hai Duong City Basic Construction Project Management Board is coordinating with relevant agencies and units to urgently carry out construction and installation works of city symbols at Thong Nhat Square and Bach Dang Street; renovate and repair 2 welcome signs at the National Highway 5 service road bordering Kim Thanh and Cam Giang districts; install additional exercise equipment in public areas; renovate the green tree system and block sidewalks on Ngo Quyen Street; and renovate the intersection of Doc Lap Square. For the central streets that have had their lighting systems replaced with synchronous ones, the old poles and lamps that are still in good condition will be used to support other communes in need of lighting to take advantage of and avoid waste.
In addition to the projects and works implemented by Hai Duong City at all levels, on this occasion, the province also invested in the city's project to renovate and beautify the lighting system, artistic lighting, trees, and sidewalks on Vo Nguyen Giap Avenue and Truong Chinh Street with a total cost of nearly 89 billion VND. This project is expected to be implemented in September. When completed, it will create a highlight for the city's gateway area with the image of a green, smart, and modern urban area.
Hai Duong City also called on local agencies and units to join hands in renovating their offices to beautify the city. Offices on central streets such as Ho Chi Minh Avenue, Nguyen Luong Bang, Ngo Quyen, Bach Dang, Hong Quang, etc. will renovate their gates, fences, main offices and install artistic lighting systems on the exterior, striving to complete before September 30. Wards and communes will check damaged, old and torn advertising signs for early replacement.
Towards the anniversary of the founding of Thanh Dong and the liberation of Hai Duong city, the city has implemented many practical and meaningful activities. Notably, urban beautification projects and works have been implemented. Not only contributing to bringing a new look to the city, this activity also makes each individual and organization more attached to the city.
