According to TASS news agency, on June 17, the Kremlin announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit North Korea from June 18-19.
The announcement stated that at the invitation of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, President Putin will pay a state-level friendly visit to North Korea this week.
In September 2023, leader Kim Jong Un made an official visit to Russia, making Russia the first country a North Korean leader has visited since the COVID-19 pandemic. During his visit to the Russian Far East, leader Kim Jong Un invited President Putin to visit North Korea at a convenient time.
Previously, President Putin visited North Korea in July 2000, two months after his inauguration.
