On the morning of May 10, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, head of the Steering Committee, chaired a regular meeting of the Central Steering Committee on anti-corruption and anti-negativity.

The meeting aims to discuss and give opinions on the results of directing the handling of a number of cases and incidents under the supervision and direction of the Steering Committee since the 23rd meeting of the Steering Committee up to now.

In addition, give opinions on the 2023 thematic inspection plan of the Steering Committee, the plan to organize a conference to review 1 year of operation of the Provincial Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption and Negativity.

Previously, on January 12, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong chaired the 23rd meeting of the Central Steering Committee on anti-corruption and anti-negativity to consider many important contents.

Accordingly, in 2022, 539 party members were disciplined for corruption and intentional violations. The Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Central Inspection Commission disciplined 47 officials under the management of the Politburo and the Secretariat (an increase of 15 cases compared to the previous year).

Removing 5 officials from the position of Central Party Committee member (term XIII), removing 2 deputy prime ministers, 3 deputy ministers and equivalent, and 1 chairman of Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (TKV) from their positions.

Localities have dismissed and dismissed three chairmen of the People's Council and the chairmen of the provincial People's Committee according to the policy of arranging and assigning work to disciplined officials whose prestige has declined.

Through inspection and audit, recommendations were made to handle finances, recover 82,560 billion VND and 883 hectares of land; and recommend administrative handling of 3,530 groups and 8,619 individuals.

In 2022, the whole country prosecuted 493 new cases/1,123 defendants for corruption (an increase of 163 cases/328 defendants compared to 2021).

The recovery of corrupt and negative assets has achieved many results. The prosecution agencies have temporarily detained, seized, and frozen accounts worth over VND 364,000 billion (an increase of more than 10 times compared to 2021).

Civil enforcement agencies recovered VND 27,400 billion (3 times higher than in 2021).

At the 23rd meeting, it was agreed to end the direction of handling 9 cases and 2 incidents under the monitoring and direction of the Steering Committee because the settlement had been completed according to the provisions of law.

Add the case of "Giving bribes; Receiving bribes; Brokering bribes; Forgery in work" occurring at the Vietnam Register and a number of registration centers to the list of cases being monitored and directed by the Steering Committee.
