And proving the determination to continue the Party rectification work, preventing corruption and negativity, on August 3, the Central Committee agreed to let Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai (former Inspector General of the Government) resign from his position as Secretary of the Party Central Committee, member of the 13th Party Central Committee; comrades: Dang Quoc Khanh (Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, former Secretary of the Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee), Nguyen Xuan Ky (Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Quang Ninh Province), Chau Van Lam (Secretary of the Tuyen Quang Provincial Party Committee, Head of the 15th National Assembly Delegation of Tuyen Quang Province) resign from their positions as members of the 13th Party Central Committee. According to the report of the Central Inspection Committee and the Central Organization Committee, these comrades violated the Party's regulations in performing their assigned duties and tasks, things that Party members are not allowed to do, the responsibility to set an example and regulations on preventing corruption and negativity.

This action demonstrates the spirit of fighting against corruption and negativity that has been and is continuing, without compromise, without forbidden zones, without exceptions. The new General Secretary's commitments immediately turned into actions, saying is doing. And the people's trust has clearly been strengthened.

After the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, there were people in public who were worried: Who will continue to “burn” that “furnace”? Who will be the successor?

The fact that Comrade To Lam was elected by the Party Central Committee to hold the position of General Secretary with an absolute number of votes has demonstrated the timeliness and absolute trust of the Party Central Committee and the people in the leader of the country. That belief is completely grounded because when Comrade To Lam was Minister of Public Security, Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption and Negative Practices, he was the right-hand man of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. His time as Minister of Public Security was also the period when the most major cases were exposed. Many officials and businessmen… paid the price for their mistakes.

Regarding Hai Duong, during his visit and working trip with the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee in May 2024, Comrade To Lam acknowledged the outstanding results in socio-economic development, Party building and political system work, security and order work as well as reminded of some limitations that Hai Duong needs to focus on overcoming.
