On the afternoon of September 10, the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front held a ceremony to launch support for people affected by storm No. 3. General Secretary and President To Lam attended the ceremony.
Attending the event were members of the Politburo, members of the Secretariat, members of the Party Central Committee; representatives of leaders of departments, ministries, branches, central agencies and a number of provinces and cities; delegates were leaders of corporations, general companies, companies, enterprises, banks, organizations, individuals, religious dignitaries, and benefactors who registered to support.
At the ceremony, delegates observed a minute of silence in memory of the victims and officers and soldiers who died while on duty to prevent and combat storm No. 3.
On behalf of the Presidium, Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien read the "Appeal of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to mobilize support for people to overcome the damage caused by storm No. 3".
Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien said that in recent days, storm No. 3 (Yagi) with very strong intensity has swept into the northern provinces of our country. Although the leaders of the Party, State, all levels and sectors have given strong directions, agencies, units, military and police forces together with the people have synchronously deployed many prevention and control measures, however, with super strong winds, the storm has caused great devastation.
In times of hardship, Party committees, authorities, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front mobilized thousands of military and police officers, youth union members, and community members to promptly help, evacuate, rescue, and protect people's lives and property; including two military and police officers who bravely sacrificed their lives while on duty. Armed forces and grassroots cadres braved the dangers of rushing into storms and gusts to rescue people...
"The Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front would like to express our deepest condolences to the families of those who died or were injured; express our gratitude to the efforts of the forces, especially the officers and soldiers of the armed forces; and send our deepest condolences to all the people in the areas affected by the storm," Mr. Do Van Chien emphasized.
The storm has left behind very serious consequences. The Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front affirmed that the Party and State have and will allocate resources to restore infrastructure, support reproduction, and ensure people's lives. While the state budget is still limited, promoting the tradition of solidarity and mutual love "the rich help the poor", "sharing food and clothes", the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front earnestly calls on compatriots and soldiers nationwide, our compatriots abroad, member organizations of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, social organizations, businesses, philanthropists at home and abroad, foreigners living and working in Vietnam... to share and provide spiritual and material support, contributing together with the Party and State to quickly restore production and people's lives.
"The Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front acknowledges and expresses gratitude to all the benevolent hearts, noble deeds, encouragement and support for our people to overcome this disaster. The Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Central Relief Mobilization Committee pledge to use all sources of support funds for the right purposes, effectively, publicly and transparently," Mr. Do Van Chien emphasized.
Responding to the call of General Secretary and President To Lam and the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, in a very short time, many units, businesses, organizations, individuals and localities across the country have made noble gestures, calling for donations and registering to support people affected by storm No. 3.
At the launching ceremony, the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front received more than 407 billion VND from agencies, units, organizations and individuals who donated and registered to support people affected by storm No. 3.
Immediately after the launching ceremony, the Central Relief Mobilization Committee will hold a meeting and coordinate with relevant ministries, branches and agencies to promptly allocate support resources to localities.
