Drug crime in Kinh Mon is getting younger

On the afternoon of November 19, the Legal Committee of the Hai Duong Provincial People's Council supervised the implementation of policies and laws on drug prevention and control in the province, period 2021-2024 at Kinh Mon Town Police.

During this period, Kinh Mon Town Police discovered and handled 93 administrative violations with 393 drug violators, imposing fines of over 300 million VND. The main violations were illegal use of drugs, illegal possession of drugs... Commune and ward police in the area have established 94 files to send people to compulsory drug rehabilitation.

During the above period, Kinh Mon Town Police discovered and prosecuted 197 cases, 275 defendants for drug crimes. They seized more than 607g of synthetic drugs, more than 243g of heroin, and more than 23kg of marijuana.

Of the 275 defendants, 65 are between 18 and 30 years old, and 210 are between 30 and 65 years old. The 275 defendants who committed drug crimes in Kinh Mon town have jobs but they are not stable.

Currently, in Kinh Mon town, there are 157 drug addicts, 20 drug users, 53 people being managed after drug rehabilitation at their place of residence. Kinh Mon does not have any complicated drug areas, routes, points, or gathering places...

The leaders of Kinh Mon Town Police proposed to submit to the National Assembly for approval the National Target Program on Drug Prevention and Control until 2030 to increase resources for this work. Pay attention to allocating funds and building facilities to carry out the work of determining addiction status in accordance with the assigned authority as prescribed. Improve the professional capacity and expertise of the medical staff responsible for determining addiction status in the area...

Speaking at the monitoring session, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Khac Toan suggested that Kinh Mon town should focus on coordination and assign responsibility to agencies and units in preventing drug abuse in the locality.
