Despite not playing, the Vietnamese team still rose 3 places in the FIFA rankings in November.
FIFA has just announced the rankings of national teams in the world. Accordingly, the Vietnamese team ranks 116th, up 3 places on the world rankings and ranks 21st in Asia.
According to the Vietnam Football Federation, the reason for the "jump" of the Vietnamese team is due to the change in rankings of other countries.
Specifically, Guinea-Bissau, Zimbabwe and Azerbaijan are the teams falling behind Vietnam in the FIFA rankings in November.
In Asia, Japan (FIFA 15th) is still the highest ranked team. Following behind are Iran (18th) and South Korea (23rd).
The highest ranked Southeast Asian team is Thailand (97th), down 1 place from the previous update.
Notably, Indonesia was awarded 16.24 points this time and rose to 125th place in the world. In November, the archipelago nation played two matches against Japan and Saudi Arabia in the third qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup. Although they lost to Japan, coach Shin Tae-yong's team won against Saudi Arabia, helping them gain more points.
Argentina is still the number 1 team in the world. Following them are France, Spain, England and Brazil.
